Extension provides information and offers on-going educational programs in land and resource management to the citizens of Michigan. Extension has responsibilities in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Community and Economic Development and Children, Youth, and Families program areas. Natural resource education encompasses all three program areas of Michigan State University Extension. Educational programs in resource management touch on Community and Economic Development based on the States natural resources providing education to youth in natural resource management so they will be equipped with the tools necessary to make wise decisions in their adult life.
Extension also provides direct information to landowners through a variety of educational programs designed to enhance the individuals knowledge of land and resource management. These program areas have similar goals they seek to help people better understand their environments, make the best possible use of their resources and enhance the quality of life for themselves, their families, and their communities through education and wise decision making.
The Extension is a source for many publications, educational resource materials and workshops about forestry. These are available either from County Extension Offices or from the MSU Bulletin Office .
